Oracle's Application Server 10g was the big surprise in our evaluation. The product is well-known as a bundle of Oracle's middleware products, but the surprise was how much progress Oracle has made in weaving its application server, portal server, and integration server into a cohesive platform. Oracle Application Server 10g's administration and management are strong, and the company's acquisition of Collaxa provides the platform with a solid BPM tool and platform. The major weakness of Oracle's platform is its complexity - there are still many moving parts that can be complex to install and administer.
